Author Biography
Amy Frykholm examines issues of spirituality, culture, and religion for publications such as The Christian Century and Relief Magazine: a Quarterly Christian Expression. In addition to writing articles and blog posts, she has written three highly praised nonfiction books. The books are diverse in topic and, as her website states, range "in subject matter from the end times to medieval mysticism to contemporary sexuality."
In Rapture Culture: Left Behind in Evangelical America (2004), her first book, Frykholm examines the popular apocalyptic Left Behind series and explores how this imaginative work of fiction informs, influences, and articulates religious beliefs. Her second book, Julian of Norwich: a Contemplative Biography (2010), looks at the life and writings of this medieval woman who was a mystic and author. Frykholm's most recent work, See Me Naked: Stories of Sexual Exile in American Christianity (2011), explores the complex intersection between sexuality and religious expression in our society.
Frykholm received a Ph.D. in literature from Duke University. She lives in Leadville, Colorado, with her family.
