Erin Celello is the author of two novels, Miracle Beach and, most recently, Learning to Stay. Learing to Stay, told from the wife's point of view, examines the cost of war to veterans and their families even after the soldiers return home. Kirkus Reviews called the book, "Alternately heartbreaking and heartwarming."
Celello teaches freshman and creative writing at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, where she also designed the state's first veteran-specific composition course. She volunteers as a writing mentor for the Washington, DC-based Veterans Writing Program.
Celello earned an MFA in fiction from Northern Michigan University. She lives in Madison with her husband, two young sons, and two incorrigible Vizslas.
