2014 Book Festival Author
Gayle Rosengren

Gayle Rosengren graduated from Knox College in Galesburg, Illinois, with honors in Philosophy and Creative Writing and went to work in advertising. But she never outgrew her love of children’s books and eventually found her way to a job as a youth services librarian. Her first publications were short stories in children’s magazines.

What the Moon Said is her first novel. It follows the adventures and struggles of Esther, a young girl who has moved to a farm in Wisconsin during the Great Depression. Kirkus Reviews called What the Moon Said, “a quiet, old fashioned story” that is “sensitive and tender.” Rosengren’s second novel is due out later this summer.
