Halimah Marcus is the co-editor of Electric Literature, an innovative digital publisher based out of Brooklyn, New York, and its weekly fiction magazine, Recommended Reading. Recommended Reading is a unique online literary magazine that publishes a piece of fiction chosen by today's top writers and editors.
Electric Literature was the recipient of the National Book Foundation's 2011 Innovations in Reading Prize and has been recognized by Best American Short Stories, Best American Non-Required Reading, and the PEN/O'Henry Prize.
In addition to her editorial work, Marcus is also an author. Her writing has appeared in One Story, Philadelphia Noir, Sports Illustrated, and elsewhere. She has a Masters in Fine Art in Fiction from Brooklyn College and has been called one of the people who put the "lit" in the much-vaunted Brooklyn lit scene by Brooklyn Magazine (2012). She lives in Brooklyn, New York.
