Larry Watson is the author of Montana 1948, Orchard, American Boy, Let Him Go, and other novels. Let Him Go (Milkweed Editions, 2013) has received starred reviews from Publishers Weekly, Booklist, and Library Journal. The novel was named one of the "Ten Titles to Pick Up Now" by O: The Oprah Magazine in September 2013.
Watson's stories, poems, and essays have appeared in many literary magazines, reviews, and newspapers. He has received numerous prizes and awards for his work from organizations such as Friends of American Writers, Mountain and Plains Booksellers Association, New York Public Library, Wisconsin Library Association, and The High Plains Book Award.
Watson grew up in Bismarck, North Dakota. He received his BA and MA from the University of North Dakota and his Ph.D. from the creative writing program at the University of Utah. He teaches writing and literature at Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
