Mary Bergin

Mary Bergin is a lifelong professional journalist who worked for 20 years at The Capital Times, Madison, as an editor and writer. Her first newspaper job was at the Oshkosh Northwestern.

Since 2002, she has written and syndicated a weekly travel column called "Roads Traveled" that is sold to daily newspapers in Wisconsin and, occasionally, the Chicago Tribune. Her areas of specialty are travel and food writing, especially in the Midwest.

Readers in the Fox Cities area can find Bergin's column in the Green Bay Press-Gazette, the Fond du Lac Reporter, and the Appleton Post-Crescent. Her writing is also online at Roadstraveled.com and Madison.about.com.

Bergin has written a number of award-winning travel books: Sidetracked in Wisconsin (2006), Hungry for Wisconsin (2008), Sidetracked in the Midwest (2011), and Eat Smart in Germany (2013).
