2016 Book Festival Author

James DeVita, a native of Long Island, NY, is an author and an actor. Along with his novels, A Winsome Murder, The Silenced, and Blue, Jim has also worked extensively as a playwright.

He has written seventeen plays for family audiences, his body of work being awarded the Charlotte B. Chorpenning Award by the American Alliance of Theater and Education. His adult plays include: In Acting Shakespeare; A Gift of the Magi (musical) , The Desert Queen (the life of Gertrude Bell); Dickens In America; Babylon; and Waiting for Vern.

Other wards include the NEA Literature Fellowship for Fiction, The AATE Distinguished Play Award and The Intellectual Freedom Award by the Kentucky Council of Teachers of English/Language Arts.
