The Fox Cities Book Festival is Moving to October 2017

The Fox Cites Book Festival will hold its tenth festival in 2017 from October 9 through October 15.

Starting in 2017, Fox Cities Reads events and the Fox Cities Book Festival will be at different times of the year.  Fox Cities Reads will continue to be in the spring and the Book Festival will move to the fall. Look for an announcement, of the 2017 Reads author and book, sometime soon.

The 2017 Book Festival will celebrate its tenth year by bringing back many favorite authors, along with inviting fascinating new authors from Wisconsin and across the country.  More information will be released at the end of the summer in 2017.

We hope you enjoyed the fundraiser evening with Lawrence University offense football coach and author Mark Speckman on March 29.

His message resonated with all of us. He talked about expectations, obstacles, self-esteem, positive thoughts and the “figure it out” adventure we have all faced one time or another. His sense of humor was delightful. Barriers melted away as we listened to his life story. We don’t think of him as a man who was born without hands. We now know him as a person who has figured things out for himself and certainly encourages us to do the same when we encounter limitations of any kind. We laughed, appreciated his candor and now welcome him and his wife Sue to our community as friends.

Thank you also to Druid’s Table, our music folk who played Irish tunes before Mark’s talk.

And thank you for YOUR donation.  All events during the Festival, April 18-24 are free and open to the public. All donations, $2 to $6,000 make the Book Festival happen!

The 2015 Book Festival has come to a close. We hope you were able to attend an author event or two or three and that you enjoyed yourself.

The Committee extends its thanks to all the people who make this enormous undertaking possible—especially the volunteers, the sponsors, the venues, and the authors themselves.

We thank the Community Foundation of the Fox Valley Region and the Neuroscience Group for their continued and substantial financial support of the festival.

Our many other sponsors as well as individual donors can and do make a difference to the festival, ensuring its presence in our community.

Finally, we would like to recognize Ellen Kort, who had the vision, and the determination, to create a book festival in the Fox Cities area. Ellen passed away during this year’s festival, but her celebration of words and of community continues on.

Until next time, keep on reading and writing and sharing....

It's Book Fest Sunday, so get ready to finish out strong. Author events this afternoon will take place at UW-Fox Valley, Menasha Public Library, and Neenah Public Library. There will be talk of end-of-life care and love, thrillers and mysteries, Wanderville adventures and more. Today's authors are:

Susan Dolan, April Henry, Mary Kubica, Wendy McClure, Claudia Turner, and Dale Kushner.

A Writers' Panel with Kushner, McClure, and Kubica will close out the day and this year's festival.

Visit the Schedule Page for details and enjoy this final day. We'll see you there!

Thank You
