Kimberly C. Paul worked in the hospice industry for 17 years, caring for end of life patients. Kimberly started a podcast called Death by Design, now in its third season. Death by Design hosts industry leaders in medicine as well as caregivers, artists, authors, and others who are reclaiming their voice around death and dying. It is Kimberly’s dream to inspire others to engage in difficult conversations, actively make decisions about how and where they want to die, and change the taboo nature of death.

Kimberly’s book, Bridging the Gap: Life Lessons from the Dying, was published in April 2018. Each chapter inspires readers to design their own life and death around what matters most. In the book, Kimberly shares her personal journey to empower individuals to reclaim death as a human experience, not just a medical event.

In June of 2018, Kimberly bought an RV, downsized her belongings, and hit the road with her German Shepherd to go on a book tour called Live Well, Die Well. Kimberly will travel to every state, with the exception of Hawaii, to connect with communities and share how she learned to live life boldly at the bedside of hospice patients. Several stops in Wisconsin are on Kimberly’s list, including Menasha!

“The more I talk about death, the more boldly I feel I’m living life to the fullest,” Kimberly stated.

Let’s Talk, Fox Valley is a community movement to improve end of life care and encourage advance care conversations and planning. The Fox Cities Book Festival seeks to bring writers and readers together with the mission of celebrating books and authors to build an engaged community of readers.
