Lighthouses of Lake Winnebago

October 14, 2017 @ 4:00 am - 5:00 am CDT

When the average person thinks of a lighthouse, their mind naturally wanders off to the many coastal areas around the world where mighty beacons were erected to help sailing ships avoid the treacherous temperament and underwater landscape of the world’s oceans.  In the Midwest, many think of the old lighthouses perched upon cliffs and along the shores of the Great Lakes, where many ships have met their fate at the hands of the cold and deep abyss of 21% of the fresh water on earth. Few people realize the existence, or history, of the lesser lighthouses around the country including Lake Winnebago.
