Peter and Connie Roop

Children

Where do authors get their story ideas? What process do they use to write a book? Get the scoop on the Roops as they share, The Story of Our Stories. This program includes a dramatic reading of Keep the Lights Burning, Abbie and is designed for school age students and their parents.

Connie and Peter Roop have written over 100 children’s books including biographies, novels, humor, picture books, and science books. Seven of their books are Reading Rainbow books, including the Feature Book Keep the Lights Burning, Abbie. Their publishers include Scholastic, National Geographic, Hyperion, and Simon & Schuster.

Connie and Peter have been avid readers since childhood. One of Connie’s biggest thrills as an author was to see a Roop book listed in the card catalog (now computer.) Peter claims to have been born with a pencil in his hand.

The Roops travel extensively to do their book research. They caught piranhas in the Amazon, observed orangutans in the wilds of Borneo, rafted down the Grand Canyon, and even kissed whales in Mexico.
Have a whale of time with Peter and Connie as they dive into the world of Roop books!
