Poetry Reading by Wisconsin Poet Laureate Karla Huston

Karla Huston, Appleton, and Wisconsin Poet Laureate (2017-2018), travels the state speaking about poetry and its value in the arts. She offers pubic readings as well as directs poetry writing workshops and visits schools. Her poet laureate term’s project includes sharing poetry with those who suffer from mild to moderate memory loss through the various Memory Cafe programs throughout the state. She thinks of herself as a Wisconsin writer and much of her writing reflects Wisconsin values. Her poetry finds its roots in the stories we tell and those memories which define us as human.
