Carol Mainville Van Boxtel, a Kaukauna native, is a retired RN-Director of Personal and Professional Development with Affinity Health System, local historian and genealogist. Carol is strongly committed to preserving the written history of Kaukauna and volunteers in the Local History Room at Kaukauna Public Library. She is author of numerous articles and short stories including: Through the Flames More Than 100 Years of Firefighting – History of Kaukauna Fire Department, The Power Behind the Electric City, Kaukauna Public Library-Pillar of Our Community, History and Memoirs of Hotel Kaukauna, 135 Years and Still on Target, History of Kaukauna Sportsmen’s Club, Early Native American Settlers in the Kaukauna Area, Six Generations of Family Cooking, St. Andrews-Mainville Historic Home Personal Memoirs, 28 Mayors-Past and Present Leadership in the City of Kaukauna, Private Jacob Schneider Civil War Veteran – Gone But Not Forgotten, The Mainvilles Descendants from a King’s Daughter, Carol’s Rhubarb Recipe Collection, and Tree Farm Reflections: A Book of Poems. She also revised and updated Kaukauna: Glimpses of its History. Carol received the 2017 Lillian Mackesy Historian of The Year Award from the Outagamie County Historical Society for three of the historical books she has written.
