Pamela Cameron
ChildrenPamela’s career as a librarian allowed her to be curious; and investigate lots of subjects. When she found mention of Sport the dog in a book about lighthouses, she knew that his story had to be told. Research for the book took her to the National Archives and Record Administration in Washington, D.C., along with visiting maritime research sites in Wisconsin and Michigan. Many people shared their knowledge of the Great Lakes, which helped ensure historical accuracy in the story.
Throughout her life she has experienced many times when her life intersected with historical events and places. She believes that children seek that connection to the world around them. She hopes that Sport will start children thinking of how they are part of their communities.
