Jon Tribble was born in Little Rock, Arkansas. He grew up in Aldersgate Camp just outside of Little Rock, a church camp devoted to medical and social services programming. He has worked as a dishwasher, maintenance worker, fry cook, movie theater manager, data processing clerk, and night watchman, and he has lived in Arkansas, South Texas, Indiana, and Illinois. He was the recipient of the 2001 Campbell Corner Poetry Prize and he received a 2003 Illinois Arts Council Fellowship in Poetry. He has published poems in print journals, including Ploughshares, Poetry, Crazyhorse, Brilliant Corners, and the Southeast Review; online, including in Prime Number, A Poetry Congeries at Connotation Press: An Online Artifact, and storySouth; and in several anthologies, including The Jazz Poetry Anthology and Where We Live: Illinois Poets.

He lives in Carbondale, Illinois, with his wife, Allison Joseph, and he directs internships in editing and publishing for the Department of English at Southern Illinois University Carbondale. He is the Managing Editor of the literary journal Crab Orchard Review and is the Series Editor of the Crab Orchard Series in Poetry from SIU Press.
