Fox Cities Book Festival: Connecting Writers and Readers

Christina Clancy's debut novel, The Second Home, was selected by the American Bookseller Association as an "Indie Next" pick for June, and as an "Indies Introduce" title for summer and fall, 2020. It was also an Amazon "Book with Buzz." Her work has appeared in The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Chicago Tribune, The Sun Magazine, and in literary journals Glimmer Train Stories, Hobart, and Pleiades. She has a PhD in Creative Writing from UW-Milwaukee, and she lives in Madison, Wisconsin with her family. Her second novel, Shoulder Season, will be published by St. Martin's Press summer 2021.

Join us on FRIDAY, MAY 27TH AT 4:30PM at the Littl Join us on FRIDAY, MAY 27TH AT 4:30PM at the Little Chute Public Library for Native American Games. Part of the supplemental events for the 2022 Fox Cities Reads!

For all ages, no registration required! This session will include games from Native Alaska and Tribes around Indian Country. Inuit Stick-Pull, Run and Scream, and Ball Race will be featured. All games will start with a short historical and Native cultural presentation, demonstration, and then game play. Wear comfortable shoes and clothing for learning and playing some Native Traditional games.

About the Instructor: 
Paul is Wolf Clan and a proud member of the Oneida Nation in Wisconsin. He graduated from Arizona State University with a bachelor’s degree in Physical Education in 1984; earned his Master of Tribal Administration and Governance from the University of Minnesota Duluth in May of 2018; and has enjoyed working in the Native Youth Development field ever since. Physical Education, Parks and Recreation Management and Native Traditional Games is his passion and has allowed him to live, work and play in Durango, CO, Santa Fe, NM, Albuquerque, NM, Tempe, AZ and at home on the Oneida Reservation. Paul also taught Physical Education and was the Recreation Director at the Indian Community School in Milwaukee, WI where he successfully implemented Native Traditional Games into both programs. In August of 2014 Paul completed his duties and responsibilities as an elected Tribal Councilman for the Oneida Nation, 12 years of serving his Community and Nation on the local, state, federal and international levels have been an invaluable experience for him.

Visit a hands-on Indigenous cultural arts workshop Visit a hands-on Indigenous cultural arts workshop as part of the supplemental events for the 2022 Fox Cities Reads!

There are two opportunities on Tuesday, April 19: 
-Kimberly Public Library: 1-2PM
-Little Chute Public Library: 6-7PM

Participants will make a traditional corn husk doll and learn about the cultural significance of the doll in Oneida culture from presenter Yuntlekalau McLester.
*Event recommended for adults and children ages 8+
