Book Illustration and Working with Authors

We’ll discuss how kick-off meetings with authors are important to temper expectations, and be clear what the deliverables are. How to send illustration comps before the drawings are too developed, have thick skin, and prepare to pivot, as well as prepare to push for what you believe (they came to you for your expertise, your job is to make a good cover, not to always please everyone). We’ll show illustrations from Poor Decisions: Mostly True Hunting and Fishing Stories. Then walk through my illustration process with iPad Pro drawings, and hand inking. At the end, we will open up for question and answers.
