Crime in the Heartland: How Fiction Can Be Truer Than the Truth

October 16, 2020 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm CDT

If truth can be stranger than fiction, then fiction can be truer than the truth.  Make-believe stories built around themes, events, and characters based in reality can open up avenues for deeper understanding of the emotional, psychological, and cultural impacts of “the facts.” John Galligan , author of Dead Man Dancing and Bad Axe County, will discuss how real-world research has shaped his fictional world of Bad Axe County, Wisconsin.
