So, You Want to Make a Literary Magazine?!

October 17, 2020 @ 11:15 am - 12:15 pm CDT

Inspired by the legendary and rebellious Evergreen Review and an emerging Chicago literary community connecting a wide range of writers from different traditions, interests, cultures, and genres, MAKE Magazine was founded in 2004. Since then, MAKE Literary Magazine has only expanded its mission in Chicago and beyond.

Michael Zapata, author of the acclaimed novel The Lost Book of Adana Moreau and co-founder and former fiction editor of the award-winning MAKE Literary Magazine, will discuss the pitfalls, challenges, and absolute joys of creating and writing for a literary magazine. A Q & A will follow.

MAKE Literary Productions promotes contemporary literary writing, translation, and visual art through the annual print publication—MAKE Literary Magazine; staged readings and integrative arts events; and educational public forums on literature and writing, including the annual Lit & Luz Festival of Language, Literature, and Art in Chicago and Mexico City.
