We are excited to host a number of children’s authors at this year’s Festival. Now is a great time to check out library copies of the books from the authors mentioned below. Reading books by FCBF authors help children connect the dots between authors and the books they love.

Lori Degman

Lori Degman is the author of six picture books. While some rhyme, others seek to uplift kids in the best ways. 1 Zany Zoo has fun exploring the idea of what happens at the zoo before the gates open and was the winner of the Cherrios New Author Contest. Degman’s Like a Girl features 24 powerful women who took big risks to change the world, including Rosa Parks and Sally Ride.

Jill Esbaum

Jill Esbaum’s newest books include Frog Boots, Where’d My Jo Go?, and We Love Babies! Esbaum has also written an extensive list of topical books on animals and nature for National Geographic Kids. She lives on a family farm in eastern Iowa.

Stephanie Feuerstein

Stephanie Feuerstein’s deep interest in the natural world has heavily influenced her writing. In 2008, Feuerstein wrote The Monarch’s Gift which Fox Cities artist Kathryn Wedge illustrated. Feuerstein’s Ella, Eddie, and Egg was written to celebrate 1000 Islands’ 50 year anniversary.

Baptiste Paul

Baptiste Paul is a Caribbean-born author of three books for children. His debut picture book, The Field, received starred reviews from Kirkus, The Horn Book, and Booklist. He also wrote two books based on real life: I Am Farmer, the true story of environmentalist Tantoh Nforba, and Adventures to School which depicts the many ways children get to school around the world.
