WHO IS KAO KALIA YANG?
Kao Kalia Yang is a Hmong-American and the author of our 2020 Fox Cities Reads, The Latehomecomer. Yang’s virtual presentation will be held on October 11 at 6:00pm. Her story is a moving and inspirational tale.
One Fox Cities reader on Facebook recently described The Latehomecomer as
“…an amazing book written from the heart. It gave me a better insight into what the Hmong had to go through to get here. So many people with so many struggles.”
To get you started before you read (or to give you more if you finished the book and just can’t get enough!), we’ve collected some interviews with Kao Kalia Yang.
- An interview with Yang from the Twin Cities Daily Planet
- A TEDx Talk by Yang given in Minneapolis
- A very well done video on YouTube of Yang as she talks about her inspiration for her book, and even takes you to her childhood home.
You can check out The Latehomecomer at your local library today! Let us know on our Facebook page how the book impacted you and be sure to refer it to a friend to prepare them for Yang’s community visit in April.
