The 2020 Fox Cities Book Festival schedule is live! Over 50 authors will join us for this year’s virtual festival. With authors from across the country in a variety of genres, we have a reading, talk, panel, or workshop for every reader to enjoy.
Headliner Kao Kalia Yang is the Hmong-American author of the 2020 Fox Cities Reads, The Latehomecomer: A Hmong Family Memoir. In it, Yang shares about her parents’ harrowing escape from war in Laos, life in a Thai refugee camp, and their early years as immigrants to America. The Latehomecomer is a National Endowment for the Arts Big Read Title, a 2020 Literature to Life Title, and was a Minnesota Book Award Winner in 2009.
Other notable authors include horror writer Steven Graham Jones, science fiction writer Cadwell Turnbull, young adult writer Tiffany D. Jackson, suspense writer Emily Carpenter, and Wisconsin writer Jerry Apps. The festival will also feature a special, pre-recorded talk by Christopher “Tuffer” Kunz, a late board member whom the 2020 festival is held in honor of.
Gathering Your Reading Materials
We always encourage festival goers to borrow from their local public libraries, however if you wish to purchase books by the 2020 authors, we highly recommend you do so through our affiliate partner Bookshop.org/shop/fcbf which supports FCBF and independent book stores.
FCBF is a volunteer-run nonprofit that relies on local donations and purchasing books through Bookshop.org supports this year’s festival.
How To Attend
The Festival takes place October 12-18, 2020. All of the FCBF virtual events are free and open to the public.
Visit our author list and schedule to view all of the virtual offerings. You can also download a printable version here.
To participate in this year’s festival, pre-register now for the individual virtual events you want to attend. You will find the link to registration on each author’s page on our website. Those that pre-register will take part in our Zoom calls with the authors and be able to submit questions. We will also live stream presentations to our Facebook page and the talks will be available to view for 24 hours. If you are uncertain about the process, we will share tutorials on how to pre-register in the coming weeks.
Thank you all for supporting the Fox Cities Book Festival and we look forward to seeing you at the Festival in October!
